Do you ask permission when posting pictures of other people?

This topic seems a little obvious, because asking permission is the most courteous thing to do. I don't personally care if people post pictures online that I'm in, but a lot of people are more sensitive to having their face and information out there.

There's one circumstance in which I always ask permission first, and that's when I'm posting pictures of someone's child. If I had a child, which I suspect I might someday, I'd like if people checked with me, or at least let me know, about posting their pictures on blogs or other websites.

What about you guys? Do you ask permission to post pictures of people or their kids? How often do you ask?

  1. I usually ask before posting pictures of people's kids! Especially when I'm unsure of how the parent would feel about their kid being plastered on my blog, ha ha!

    1. Same here. I feel like we should be protective of children.

  2. I feel like I need to check when a kiddo is involved. Usually, I just refrain because I don't want them following my bloggo necessarily ;)

  3. I don't really have many friends with kids, but I do have 13 nieces and nephews. I don't ask with family, but we also all post pictures of one another and the kids constantly. But I do ask with other children I'm not related to. I also feel that slight dread whenever I see someone has posted a pic of me on facebook.. until I know what the photo is. Haha, is that weird?!

    1. If I've gotten permission from someone in the past, I don't usually ask again, unless I feel like I should. When it's kids, I feel like I should ask more often, even if I've gotten permission before. It gives people the chance to change their mind if they decide they want to be more protective.

  6. I usually don't post pictures people outside my family at all. I have taken pictures solely for the blog that had people in them, but I intentionally threw their faces out of focus or cropped so that their face wasn't showing so that it would honor their privacy. I have asked for permission otherwise.
