What do you wear to a job interview?

I was getting ready for a job interview recently, and I spent most of the morning trying to figure out what to wear. I wanted something professional but not stuffy, clean and pressed but not uncomfortable, and colorful but not loud.

Here's what I came up with.

Black high-waisted slacks with a soft, bright tee with sequined detail. What would you wear to an interview? Are jeans a no-go?

  1. Hmmm, I definitely think it depends a little bit on where you are interviewing, but I would say pretty much jeans are a no go in my opinion. Plus it is always better to impress them with your professionalism than to not meet their expectations.

    1. Good point. Of course, getting a job at a deli is a totally different situation than getting a job at a law firm. Better to overdress in this situation.

  2. I'm an engineer and I always always ALWAYS wear a suit, with a pretty, feminine top underneath and a nice pair of heels!

  3. Jeans are definitely a no-go as should be this top. Too loud for an interview unless you work in graphic design.

  4. This cracks me up because it SO goes against what I was told in college. :-) We were told it must be a suit, with a neutral blouse underneath. And, never, no matter how hot a day or how out of place you look, never ever take off your suit jacket. Nuts. I think you look fab, by the way!
